2-丙烯酰胺基-2-甲基丙磺酸钠(AMPS-NA)50%的钠盐液,主要应用于乳液、水性粘合剂及密封胶。在乳液中添加2-丙烯酰胺基-2-甲基丙磺酸钠与丙烯酸、苯乙烯、或醋酸乙烯酯反应,引进反应性的乳化剂,防止乳化剂的迁移。仅用2-3%的2-丙烯酰胺基-2-甲基丙磺酸钠,就可以使乳液具有低粘度和显著的稳定性。同时不需要加入如乙二醇等添加剂,并能提高漆膜的附着力、热稳定性及抗静电性,提高乳胶漆的抗水性及耐擦洗性。 AMPS钠盐中丙烯酰胺基团会使聚合反应加快;两个侧甲基和甲基磺酸钠结合在氨基后面,可以阻止其水解和热降解;磺化基团可以使单体在任何PH的情况下都能表现出较高的亲水性和离子特征。通过对AMPS钠盐合成乳液时所产生的凝胶、颗粒、表面电荷密度、胶乳稳定性等方面经过详细研究后得出结论:由于高聚物具有高分子电解质特性,吸附在胶乳粒子表面行程了电离层,从而增加了胶乳的稳定性。使用AMPS钠盐,不但可以代替羧酸单体,还能减少其他表面活性剂的使用量,具有良好的抗水界性和热稳定性;由这些乳液制成的产品具有光滑和柔韧、舒适性的触感,制成的涂料的耐擦洗性亦有显著的改善。所以AMPS钠盐是一种高反应性,高度亲水性的功能性聚合单体,也是一种可聚合性表面活性剂。
